When you attend the Cajuns Solar Eclipse Rolling Muster, you will experience an extraordinary phenomenon. About 1:45 (CDT) in the afternoon of April 8, 2024, there will be a gradual spread of dusk across the sky, then the stars and the solar corona will suddenly appear. There will be a bright halo around the sun. This takes place when the earth’s moon totally blocks out the sun.

Join the Cajuns in Canton, Texas to witness this once in a lifetime, or maybe twice in a lifetime, phenomenon. The next total eclipse, that can be seen from the United States, will occur in the year 2044. (Please note, you may join or depart this rolling muster at any location or any specific day that fits you travel schedule).

The Cajun’s 2024 Solar Eclipse Rolling Muster starts on Sunday April 7, 2024 at the Canton Civic Center & RV Park located at 800 Flea Market Road, Canton, Texas 75103. Since this RV Park requires a minimum stay of three days, we will be departing Canton Wednesday April 10, 2024. Cost per night is $60 (plus a one time fee of $7.20). Cost for the three night stay should be $187.20. Do not contact the RV Park directly, you must go through Kathy Letsinger at 318-366-8816. The RV Park will contact you for billing and site assignment. As of today, there are Five (5) remaining open spots available at this RV Park. The Canton Civic Center will be providing entertainment during our stay, but these plans are incomplete at this time. We will update when details are finalized. Solar viewing glasses will be available.

On Wednesday April 10, 2024, we will depart Canton and go to the Blue Sky I-35 RV Park, which is just North of Waco, Texas, for two nights. Travel distance is about 135 Miles. The Blue Sky I-35 RV Park is located just off interstate 35 at 15131 I-35 North Frontage Road, Elm Mott, TX 76640. If south bound on I-35 take exit 346. Rally rates are $59 per night plus any fees in addition to a 10% discount for Veterans and Good Sam Members. You should contact the Blue Sky I-35 RV Park at 254-829-0698 to make your reservations. Tell them you are with the SMART Cajuns.

Points of interest in the Waco area are: Waco Mammoth National Monument, Dr. Pepper Museum, Texas Ranger Hall of Fame, Waco “Fixer Upper Tour” ($49), Brazos River Cruse Cameron Park Zoo, Baylor University. Waco Brewery Tour, The Silo.

On Friday April 12, 2024, we will depart Waco and go to the Fredericksburg RV Park, in Fredericksburg, Texas, for five nights. Travel distance is about 180 Miles. The Fredericksburg RV Park is located at 305 East Highway Street, Fredericksburg Texas 78624 (located less than a mile from the heart of town)

There are three camping rates: (there is a 20% discount to these rates)

Silver $78 per night, (Sites 12 through 20, 23, 24, and 30)

Gold $85 per night, (Sites 26, 27, 28, 34, 35, and 36)

Platinum $92 per night. (Sites 21, 22, 31, and 32)

You should contact the Fredericksburg RV Park at 830-990-9582 to make your reservations before February first. Tell them you are with the Barksdale Group, (That’s how the campground reserved the sites).
