YES, you’ll want to make reservations early to reserve your space. We’ve
found that 20 rigs is a good maximum. We allow exceptions based upon Wagon Master

YES, SMART Members may sponsor a friend or family member to participate in a caravan,
in their own rig, provided the caravan has not been filled by SMART members. They must
use the “Non-Member Registration” button shown on each caravan to begin the process.
They will be waitlisted until 180 days prior to the start.
You will receive a full refund less $80 Administrative fee and any non-refundable
deposits made on your behalf, if you cancel at least 60 days prior to the start.
The Assistant Wagon Master will remain with you until appropriate assistance arrives.
For mechanical breakdowns which prevent you from continuing, you may receive
reimbursement of funds, less any expenses incurred by the Wagon Master on your behalf.

YES, we recommend a tow vehicle to maximize your freedom. Unless you have arrangements
with someone else on the caravan to carpool, a tow vehicle is a must to participate
in many caravan activities. Most caravans have free days to explore. However, it’
an individual preference to tow.
YES, some parks set restrictions on which breeds, size, and number of pets they
allow. Check with the Wagon Master to see if there are any pet restrictions on the
caravan. Canada requires proof of rabies vaccination. We are a pet friendly group;
however, it’s your responsibility to care for your pet.
Passports are required for caravans that are traveling out of the lower 48.
From past experience, traveling in groups of three to four RV’s is a safe way
to travel. If you prefer to travel independently, you can make arrangements with
the Wagon Master prior to the start or during the caravan.
The VIAL OF LIFE form,
Vial_of_Life.pdf, tells us what to
do in case of an emergency. Please fill out this form and place it into a container in
either your refrigerator or the freezer. Keeping this information updated and current
may save your life.
YES, it is mandatory for at least one member of each RV be in attendance during the
travel meeting.
YES, it is your responsibility to ensure that your RV is in good mechanical condition
prior to the start of the caravan. A suggested inspection form will be sent to each
participant upon signing up for the caravan. This form will be reviewed by the AWM
and owner prior to the first travel day (WM/AWM will work with members to schedule
time of inspections).
We cannot guarantee that each campground will have reliable WiFi. Some RV parks only
have WiFi at the office or out buildings. Check with the Wagon Master for more
details.
While most RV parks in the lower 48 have adequate full hookups, caravans traveling
into or through Canada may be limited to 15 or 30 amp hookups. Check with the Wagon
Master for more details.
It’s always a good idea to carry extra lengths of electrical cable, water, and
sewer hoses but it’s best to check with the Wagon Master for more information
about hookups.
This question doesn’t have a hard and fast answer. It depends on your wants
and needs. You should check the owner’s manual and manufacture for more
details on how to operate on 15 or 30 amps.

about event on the caravan to see how much walking will be required.
