Introduction

Chartered August 2004 (almost 21 years ago) and recipient of the SMART Outstanding Chapter Award for many years, the Mississippi Magnolias is an enthusiastic group of about 45 members located in the southern part of the Central Region. We usually muster during the Fall, Winter and Spring because of our location and where most of our members are living along the Gulf Coast. Because we have several members who no longer own an RV for various reasons, we try to find campgrounds with cabins/cottages or hotels that are very close by to accommodate these members who still want to continue as chapter members.

Our musters consist mainly of four days of camaraderie meeting at least four times each year. We cook and eat together, play all kinds of games, tour local museums and businesses, do crafts, go shopping together and have seminars. We also meet occasionally for luncheons in the Slidell/Covington area during the months we do not muster together; i.e., June, July and August.

Besides our muster activities, the MS Magnolias have donated for the last several years to the Fisher House of Biloxi, MS which provides housing for veteran’s families while the veteran is receiving treatment or is in a VA or military hospital. There is always an activity at each of our musters which provides a way to donate to these organizations whether it is 50/25/25 raffles, silent auctions, individual donations, etc.
