Introduction
Chartered August 2004 (20 years ago) and recipients of the SMART Outstanding Chapter Award, the Mississippi Magnolias is an enthusiastic group of about 40 members located in the southern part of the Central Region. We usually muster during the fall, winter and spring because of our location and where most of our members are living along the Gulf Coast.
Our musters consist mainly of four days of camaraderie. We meet at least four times each year and we cook and eat together, play card games and bean bag toss games, such as Cornhole and Baseball. We tour local museums and businesses, do crafts, go shopping together and have seminars. We also meet occasionally for luncheons in the Slidell/Covington area during the months we do not muster together; i.e., June, July and August.
Besides our muster activities, the MS Magnolias have donated for the last several years to the Fisher House of Biloxi, MS. which provides housing for veteran’s families while the veteran is receiving treatment or in a VA or military hospital. There is always an activity at each of our musters which provides a way to donate to these organizations whether it is 50/25/25 raffles, Silent Auctions, individual donations, etc.
